ในวันสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าโลกแต่ละปี พวกเราเฉลิมฉลองความสวยงามและความมหัศจรรย์ของสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าบนโลกของเรา ทำไมพวกเราถึงต้องให้ความสนใจในสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่า นอกเหนือจากความรับผิดชอบทางศีลธรรมในการค้ำจุนโลกใบนี้แล้ว มนุษยชาติยังคงต้องพึ่งพาผลิตภัณฑ์และบริการที่จำเป็นที่ธรรมชาติมอบให้แก่เรา ตั้งแต่อาหาร แหล่งน้ำ ไปจนถึงการช่วยควบคุมมลทิศทางอากาศและช่วยกับเก็บคาร์บอน การที่เราทำร้ายธรรมชาติเท่ากับเป็นการคุกคามความเป็นอยู่ของพวกเราเองด้วย
ทุกวันนี้สัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าทั่วโลกกำลังตกอยู่ในอันตราย กว่า 1 ใน 4 ของชนิดพันธุ์ทั้งหมดกำลังเผชิญหน้ากับภัยคุกคามจากการสูญพันธุ์ สาเหตุหลักนั้นมาจากการที่เราได้ทำลายเกือบครึ่งของระบบนิเวศที่พวกมันดำรงชีวิตอยู่ พวกเราต้องเริ่มลงมือทำอะไรสักอย่างในทันทีเพื่อพลิกฟื้นจากวิกฤตนี้ วันสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าโลกในปีนี้ต้องการที่จะเน้นย้ำความสำคัญของทศวรรษแห่งการฟื้นฟูระบบนิเวศ (พ.ศ. 2564 - 2573) ระบบนิเวศจะนับว่าอุดมสมบูรณ์ได้ก็ต่อเมื่อชนิดพันธุ์ที่เป็นส่วนสำคัญสามารถดำรงอยู่ได้อย่างยั่งยืน หากแม้เพียงหนึ่งชนิดพันธุ์หลักสูญพันธุ์ไป ระบบนิเวศนั้นอาจเริ่มเสื่อมโทรมและล่มสลายในที่สุด นี่เป็นสาเหตุที่การดำเนินการเพื่อปกป้องชนิดพันธุ์ต่าง ๆ ต้องทำควบคู่ไปกับการฟื้นฟูระบบนิเวศทั้งระบบ
ในวันสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าโลกปีนี้ ขอให้พวกเราทุ่มเทให้กับการอนุรักษ์ไว้ซึ่งสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าที่มิอาจประเมิณค่าได้และไม่มีสิ่งใดมาทดแทนได้ เพื่อประโยชน์และความสุขของพวกเราและลูกหลานของเราในอนาคต
Each year, on World Wildlife Day, we celebrate the beauty and wonder of our planet’s wild plants and animals. Why do we care about wildlife? Beyond a moral duty to sustain the Earth, humanity depends on the essential products and services that nature provides, from food and freshwater to pollution control and carbon storage. By damaging the natural world, we threaten our own well-being.
Today, all around the world, wildlife is in peril. A quarter of species face the threat of extinction, in large part because we have destroyed nearly half of the ecosystems in which they live. We must act now to reverse this trend. This year’s World Wildlife Day highlights the importance of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030). Ecosystems are only healthy when their component species thrive. If just one keystone species disappears, an entire ecosystem can start to decline and die. This is why actions to protect individual species must go hand-in-hand with restoring entire ecosystems.
On this World Wildlife Day let us commit to preserving our invaluable and irreplaceable wildlife for the benefit and delight of current and future generations
วันสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าโลกเป็นโอกาสอันดีที่จะคำนึงถึงสัตว์และพืชที่เราอยู่ร่วมโลกด้วย สิ่งที่พวกมันมอบให้เรา และสิ่งที่เราควรจะทำเพื่อพวกมัน การเฉลิมฉลองวันสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าโลกในปีนี้มุ่งเน้นไปที่การปกป้องสายพันธุ์ที่มีบทบาทสำคัญในการทำงานของระบบนิเวศและการเกื้อหนุนจากชนิดพันธุ์เหล่านี้ที่ทำให้ระบบนิเวศอุดมสมบูรณ์ พวกเราทุกคนมีความจำเป็นต้องทำตามบทบาทของเราและมีเพียงการร่วมมือเป็นพันธมิตรกันเท่านั้นที่เราจะมองเห็นถึงความหวังในการเผชิญหน้าและก้าวข้ามผ่านอุปสรรคอันใหญ่หลวงต่างๆได้อย่างสำเร็จลุล่วง สัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าจะไม่สามารถดำรงอยู่ได้อย่างอุดมสมบูรณ์หากที่อยู่อาศัยของพวกมันถูกทำลาย ที่อยู่อาศัยของพวกมันไม่สามารถดำรงอยู่ได้หากเราไม่อนุรักษ์สัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าดังกล่าวอย่างเห็นผลชัดเจน และหากไม่มีสัตวป่าและพืชป่าที่อุดมสมบูรณ์และที่อยู่อาศัยที่ยั่งยืน ความต้องการของมนุษย์ก็จะไม่สามารถถูกสนองได้เช่นเดียวกัน
ระบบควบคุมในระดับนานาชาติและนโยบายระดับชาติที่นำโดยรัฐบาลมีความสำคัญต่อการปกป้องสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่า แต่สิ่งที่สำคัญที่สุดที่ต้องทำในปัจจุบันคือสิ่งที่คนในท้องถิ่นและองค์กรที่อุทิศตนเพื่อประเด็นปัญหาและโครงการในท้องถิ่นได้ลงมือทำ ในวันที่ 3 มีนาคม การเฉลิมฉลองในระดับสากลเนื่องในวันสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าโลกของเราจะเป็นการยกย่องบุคคลเหล่านี้และบอกเล่าเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับงานที่พวกเขาทำ ให้เรารับทราบและชื่นชมเรื่องราวความสำเร็จในการอนุรักษ์ที่มีอยู่มากมาย ในขณะเดียวกันก็สำรวจอุปสรรคที่เราต้องเผชิญและแนวทางแก้ไขที่เป็นไปได้สำหรับอนาคต พวกเราเข้าใจถึงความเสียหายที่เราได้ก่อขึ้นกับสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่า พวกเราเข้าใจว่าความเสียหายดังกล่าวส่งผลกระทบต่อทั้งปัจจุบันและอนาคตของพวกเรา และพวกเรารู้ว่าต้องทำอย่างไรถึงจะหวนคืนและฟื้นฟูสิ่งเหล่านี้ได้ มาช่วยกันเถอะ!

World Wildlife Day is an opportunity to think about the plants and animals we share the planet with and consider what they do for us - and what we should be doing for them. This year’s celebration of World Wildlife Day focuses on how we can protect key species – species that play a particularly vital part in shaping how their ecosystem functions – and their contributions to ecosystem health. We each need to play our part and it is only through this partnership that we can hope to succeed in tackling the enormous challenges that we face. Animals and plants cannot flourish if their habitats are being destroyed. Habitats cannot be sustained unless their flora and fauna are effectively conserved. And without a thriving wildlife and healthy habitats our human needs cannot be met.
International regimes and national, government-led national policies are critical for protecting wildlife. But some of the most important work being done today is by local people and organizations dedicated to local issues and projects. On 3 March, our international celebration of World Wildlife Day will recognize some of these people and hear about the work that they are doing. Let us also acknowledge and appreciate the many conservation success stories that do exist, while at the same time exploring the challenges we face and the potential solutions for the future. We understand the damage we are doing to wildlife; we understand how this damage affects our present and future; and we know what we need to do to reverse course. Let’s do it!

ผมรู้สึกมีความยินดีและเป็นเกียรติอย่างยิ่ง ที่ได้มีโอกาสมาพบปะ และได้พูดคุยกับทุกท่าน เนื่องในวันสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าโลก หรือ World Wildlife Day ประจำปี พ.ศ. 2565 ภายใต้แนวคิดหลัก “Recovering Key Species for Ecosystem Restoration หรือ กู้วิกฤตชีวิตในป่า พลิกฟื้นชะตาระบบนิเวศ” การที่องค์การสหประชาชาติได้ประกาศรับรองให้วันที่ 3 มีนาคม เป็นวันสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าโลกอย่างเป็นทางการนั้น เกิดจากความริเริ่มของประเทศไทย ที่ได้เสนอต่อที่ประชุมภาคีอนุสัญญาว่าด้วยการค้าระหว่างประเทศซึ่งชนิดสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าที่ใกล้สูญพันธุ์ ครั้งที่ 16 เมื่อวันที่ 3 มีนาคม 2556 ดังนั้น เราจึงควรสืบสานเจตนารมณ์ในครั้งนี้ และถ่ายทอดไปสู่คนรุ่นหลังต่อไป
การสูญเสียของชนิดพันธุ์ แหล่งที่อยู่อาศัยตามธรรมชาติ และระบบนิเวศอย่างต่อเนื่อง นับเป็นภัยคุกคามอย่างใหญ่หลวงต่อทุกชีวิตบนโลก ประเทศไทย โดยกระทรวงทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อม ได้ตระหนักและเน้นย้ำอยู่เสมอถึงความสำคัญของการคุ้มครอง รักษาชนิดพันธุ์ และการฟื้นฟูประชากรสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่า โดยเฉพาะชนิดที่ใกล้สูญพันธุ์และใกล้สูญพันธุ์อย่างยิ่ง จึงได้ดำเนินนโยบายด้านการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อมที่สอดรับกับการแก้ไขปัญหาดังกล่าวภายใต้แนวคิด “การอนุรักษ์เพื่อความยั่งยืน” โดยผ่านความร่วมมือและการสนับสนุนจากทุกภาคส่วนที่เกี่ยวข้องทั้งในและต่างประเทศซึ่งความร่วมมือ การมีส่วนร่วม และการสนับสนุนต่าง ๆ เหล่านี้ ถือเป็นสิ่งที่จำเป็นที่จะช่วยสร้างความเชื่อมั่นและการันตีได้ว่าประเทศไทยสามารถพลิกวิกฤตการสูญพันธุ์ของชนิดสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าที่ใกล้สูญพันธุ์ และสามารถฟื้นระบบนิเวศให้กลับคืนความสมบูรณ์อย่างที่ประเทศของเราเคยเป็นในอดีตได้อย่างแน่นอน
ในโอกาสนี้ ในนามกระทรวงทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อม ผมขอเชิญชวนพี่น้องประชาชนชาวไทยมาร่วมเฉลิมฉลองให้กับความสวยงามของธรรมชาติและร่วมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของความสำเร็จในการ “กู้วิกฤตชีวิตในป่า เพื่อพลิกฟื้นชะตาระบบนิเวศ” ไปพร้อมกับกระทรวงทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อม ซึ่งผมหวังว่าหากพวกเราช่วยกันคนละไม้คนละมือในเรื่องเหล่านี้ ก็จะสามารถหยุดวิกฤตการสูญพันธุ์ของสิ่งมีชีวิตไปได้อีกหลายชนิด เพื่อให้คนปัจจุบันและคนรุ่นหลังได้ชื่นชมและใช้ประโยชน์อย่างยั่งยืนต่อไป
It’s my great pleasure and honor to be meeting and talking with all of you in celebration of this year’s World Wildlife Day 2022 under the theme of “Recovering Key Species for Ecosystem Restoration”. The United Nations has officially declared March 3 as the World Wildlife Day due to Thailand's suggestion which was proposed to the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to CITES on 3 March 2013. Therefore, we should carry on this intention and pass it on to the next generation.
Continued loss of species, habitats and ecosystems threaten all life on Earth. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand, recognized these problems and has been emphasizing the importance of protection, conservation and restoration of wildlife populations especially endangered and critically endangered species. Consequently, a policy on conservation of natural resources and the environment has been implemented in line with solving the aforementioned problems under the concept of "Conservation for Sustainability". Cooperation and support from all related national and international sectors are required in order to build trust and to guarantee that Thailand will definitely succeed in reversing the fates of endangered species and restoring the ecosystem back to its former resourcefulness like how it was in the past.
On this special occasion, on behalf of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, I would like to use this chance to invite everyone to celebrate World Wildlife Day 2022, appreciate the beauty of nature and contribute to "Recovering Key Species for Ecosystem Restoration" together with Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. I wish to see us all taking a part in all these efforts, so we can save many species from a crisis of extinction, and for us and the next generation to appreciate and sustainably benefit from wildlife.
ด้วยองค์การสหประชาชาติ ได้ประกาศให้ วันที่ 3 มีนาคม ของทุกปี เป็นวันสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าโลก หรือ World Wildlife Day เพื่อเฉลิมฉลองในความสวยงาม ประโยชน์ และรูปแบบที่หลากหลายของสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่า และเน้นย้ำให้สาธารณชนได้ตระหนักถึงคุณค่าและประโยชน์ของสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าที่มีต่อมวลมนุษยชาติ โดยผ่านแนวคิดหลัก ที่กำหนดขึ้นในแต่ละปี สำหรับแนวคิดหลักของปีนี้ คือ “Recovering Key Species for Ecosystem Restoration หรือ กู้วิกฤตชีวิตในป่า พลิกฟื้นชะตาระบบนิเวศ” ที่ต้องการสื่อสารให้สาธารณชนให้ความสนใจและตระหนักถึงสถานภาพของสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าที่ใกล้สูญพันธุ์อย่างยิ่ง และบทบาทหน้าที่ของสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าเหล่านั้นที่มีต่อระบบนิเวศ ประเทศไทยได้ดำเนินนโยบายต่าง ๆ เพื่อการคุ้มครองรักษาชนิดพันธุ์ของสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่า รวมทั้งแหล่งที่อยู่อาศัย โดยได้มีการกำหนดชนิดสัตว์ป่าสงวน สัตว์ป่าคุ้มครอง การประกาศเขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าและเขตห้ามล่าสัตว์ป่าเพื่อสงวนไว้ให้เป็นที่อยู่อาศัยของสัตว์
ผมขอขอบคุณประชาชนคนไทยทุกคนที่ได้ร่วมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการดูแลรักษาทรัพยากรป่าไม้และสัตว์ป่าที่มีค่า อุทยานแห่งชาติ สัตว์ป่า และพันธุ์พืช จะมุ่งมั่นในการอนุรักษ์และพิทักษ์ผืนป่า รวมทั้งฟื้นฟูประชากรสัตว์ป่าและพืชป่าที่ใกล้สูญพันธุ์ ให้เป็นแหล่งทรัพยากรที่อุดมสมบูรณ์และแหล่งต้นทุนทางเศรษฐกิจของประเทศอย่างเต็มกำลังความสามารถ เพื่อประโยชน์ในการดำรงชีวิตและความอยู่ดีกินดีของประชาชน รวมทั้งให้การสนับสนุนและส่งเสริมให้ชุมชนท้องถิ่นที่อยู่ใกล้พื้นที่ป่า ได้สามารถใช้ประโยชน์และพึ่งพิงทรัพยากรธรรมชาติได้อย่างสมดุล เกื้อกูล ยั่งยืน และสอดคล้องกับวิถีชีวิตและวัฒนธรรมแบบดั้งเดิมต่อไป
The United Nations has officially declared March 3 as the World Wildlife Day, to celebrate the beauty, value and diversity of wildlife, to raise public awareness and emphasize the benefits provided to us by wildlife and how valuable they are, under the main theme designated for each year. This year’s main theme, “Recovering Key Species for Ecosystem Restoration”, will seek to draw attention to the conservation status of some of the most critically endangered species of wild fauna and flora and their roles in the ecosystem. Thailand has carried out the various policies in order to protect and preserve wildlife species and their habitats. Several wildlife species have been designated as reserved wildlife, and protected wildlife, together with designation of various forest areas as wildlife sanctuaries and non-hunting areas to preserve them as habitats for wildlife.
I would like to take this chance to appreciate people of the public of Thailand who contributes to the preservation of invaluable wildlife resources. The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation will remain dedicated to the conservation and protection of the forest resources, including restoring populations of endangered wild species so they can, to their fullest potential, remain as an abundant asset and source of business resources, for the benefits and well-being of the public. This also includes providing support and encouraging the local communities living near forest to reliably and sustainably benefit from natural resources in a well-balanced manner while continue remaining in line with their original tradition and livelihood.
